Description |
Aerial view of the two adjacent Whirlpool
Rapids Bridges. The CN bridge (grey, top) carries rail traffic on the top
deck, with the bottom deck carrying vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The
former CP bridge (bottom, brown) carried only rail traffic up until around
2001, when a consortium of government and private corporations purchased
the CP line through Niagara Falls. The bridge now sits vacant, having had
the rails lifted, and has had several barriers constructed to prevent
unwanted crossings. |
